Summary

Daring Descent is a 2D Arcade Mobile Style game where players must maneuver and land the ship in a specific landing zone on a planet without crashing or running out of fuel. When successfully landing, overall performance will be given a score based on time taken, health remaining, and landing difficulty. 1-5 stars is given based on the total score at the end of each level.

Levels

Level 1 Details
  • Focused on introducing and forcing the player to use the controls to navigate through a set path to reach the bottom

  • Fuel pick-ups are lined as a way to breadcrumb the player 

  • Players learn that fuel must be managed in order to survive

Level 2 Details
  • Introduces two new simple mechanics (moving asteroids and a timed solar flare)

  • Static asteroids are set in the level to hinder movement so the player will experience the solar flare and become wary of them.

  • Moving asteroids will only damage the player if either is going fast enough upon impact.

Level 3 Details
  • Introduces the most challenging mechanic (gravity well)

  • The first gravity well is placed near the player spawn so that they will experience the minor effects of the well

  • The other gravity well is placed near the bottom by the 'Hard' landing zone which will give more points if the player lands in that zone. Risk == Reward
